The word iso is Ancient Greek for equal or same. ISO is the International Organization for Standardization, an independent, non-governmental international organization with a membership of 162 national standards bodies. Through its members, it brings together experts to share knowledge and develop voluntary, consensus-based, market relevant International Standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges. ISO 9001 is the world’s most popular and most commonly used standard for Quality Management Systems QMS. A standard is not a law, but an agreement or best practice that an organization can apply voluntarily. A standard reflects a good level of professionalism. A QMS is a tool with which an organization can determine how it can meet the requirements of its customers and the other interested parties that are involved in its activities.
